I bought our tent this week!! It's a very exciting thing for me. It feels as though things are coming together nicely. As with everything else once I got my lovely new tent home I made time to try it out.
The weather here has been very wet for a while so I preferred to wait for a dry day and as luck would have it it turned out to be a sunny day as well.
The first thing I did was lay out a blanket in my backyard. I'm not quite ready for my pretty new tent to get dirty. I then proceeded to put my tent up. It is super super easy to build. The poles are all linked together with elastic rope so you just basically fit the little tubes end to end and there you have it. The external boning of your tent is ready. after that the placement is color coded so there really is no reason to get it wrong.
Eros kept a close eye on the proceedings whiled marking his post rain yard. We did have words when he made his way towards the tent and sniffed at it in a very suspicious manner. He seemed quite put off to learn that there was no tent marking allowed. But resolved to leave it for another day, I suspect.
Once the outer cover went on he had moved on to a different sort of exploration.
It didn't take much convincing to get him inside with me and we had more than enough room. Especially since I only used two stakes for this first try which means the tent was sort of saggy in places. I also did not put the sleeping pad in this first time. I still have to figure out what he'll be sleeping on so it would have been a little wonky I think.
Once inside mister Eros was more than happy to remain there. And hey, if you can't mark the outside laying inside establishes ownership just as well maybe better.
But still he had to come out and the tent needed to return to it's protective pouch. So I got my sweet puppy out without great difficulty and started to rezip the flaps and just as I was about to remove the outer liner a light breeze decided to join in on the fun and off went the untethered tent.
This is how light this tent is. I'm just glad my yard is fenced otherwise I probably would have had to chase down my tent. Still I had a good laugh.
And Eros found a way to keep it from flying away again.
