My puppies and I finally broke that dreaded 8 mile mark this week. We had to hike in a very different spot to do so just because I don't like to do what feels like laps. So we braved the Land O' Ticks that this other spot is and marched our way all the way up to a ridge with over 1000 ft of elevation gain, then back down again to end with 10.5 miles. Though the puppies did more since their hiking is in a more zigzagy style. Yet they still gave me a few "formation" photo ops. Puppy number four was late to the formation there.
We took a 10 minute break for a snack at 5 miles, and enjoyed being in nature alone.
But other than that we just walked. Surrounded by so many shades of purple interspersed every now and then by a yellow or red. But mainly purples.
The puppies enjoyed a nice dip at the end of the walk which rejuvenated them enough to start chasing each other. --that I got on video but don't know how to add it to the blog--
Although the drive home and the evening that followed were very quiet. I had some tired puppies on my hands and it was lovely to see.
We didn't leave it at that though the next day we returned to our usual hiking place and did only 4 miles but I wanted to see if we were up to the challenge for a second day. Happily we were, but I had things I needed to do. Bathe filthy puppies for one and couldn't do another complete afternoon of hiking.
Other than that this week as filled with research online for the last small items and still trying to figure out food. I ordered some dehydrated food online, should arrive Friday. So next blog should have some food pics I think.
Till then.... Happy exploring. Never know what you'll find.
