This was a week of mail watch and dehydrated food sampling. But before I get to that I created a gear list for Eros which includes his food weight.
His gear list can be found here https://lighterpack.com/r/374bcg
Now about my mail watch.
I got some very exciting news early in the week that my backpack was finally on its way to me. Then I had to wait and wait for the box to reach my house. In truth it was probably only three days but it was a long three days. I checked the tracking of my package daily, several times daily. Okay I'll admit I was a package stalker. What can I say I was eager to get my new backpack.
At last I again have a backpack.
I've only carried it around the house so far but it feels great and soooo light. Even with part of my gear in there it feels light. I'm very excited to try it out on a hike, but this past week was unfortunately not a hiking week for us.
The second package I received this week I was not so obsessive about tracking. This was a box of food from Packit Gourmet. I got a variety of meals to try as I have still been in search of food I could enjoy during our journey.
At this point I've tried a number of dehydrated or dried foods I could potentially take with me and this was by far the tastiest.
Unlike the other foods I've tried this tasted fresh, like "normal" food. I think that I have at last found the food I will take. I've even had my nephew pick the meals he'd like since I'll have to order it before he arrives.
It feels so nice to have things come together and have time to check and recheck. Which I will no doubt do ad nauseam.
