Okay, so I took a week off blog writing to try and come back with a lovely tale of our overnight trip but I got nothing. I think my writing brain only works when I start writing so here goes.
I decided that with most of our preparations done it was time for my puppy boy and me to go try out all of this equipment in the field as it were. And I talked my dad into joining us since he is the one who started all of this JMT business to begin with and he is also the person we are joining on the trail. He'll be doing the entire trail from Yosemite to Whitney.
We picked a series of trails about an hour away from where we live to do a 22ish mile loop.
My mom was kind enough to serve as our chauffeur. Eros and I did what we could to keep our breakfasts down as the car navigated the twists and turns to get us to the trailhead. we both get car sick when the road turns a lot. Thankfully breakfast stayed down.
We kissed my mom goodbye, left her with the zoom lens I decided last minute not to take and started off on the dirt road that would lead us to the actual trailhead, we had a proud determined puppy leading the way.
The roadwalk took us passed a bridge, the dam and onto another bit of road. we were given hope as we continued along.
After about a mile long walk we finally arrived at the trail head. This was an exciting time for us. We were embarking on a new adventure. Big Pines was our trail.
To be continued......
